Beekeeper in suit holding bees

Beekeeping 101 is an opportunity to learn all the basics to get started beekeeping. This course is geared for the beginner beekeeper - those will little to absolutely no knowledge.

This course is very hands on, with countless examples and opportunities to touch and handle the beekeeping equipment and bees. The course covers honey bee biology, beekeeping equipment, setting up your apiary, and an overview of diseases and pests of honey bees.

You will receive a packet with beekeeping catalogs, factsheets, and other useful literature.

Classroom In-Person Option

Self-paced Online Course Option

  • Register to receive a coupon for a reduced price on the online course.
  • Gain the opportunity to sign up for a hands-on field day in Boerne.
  • It is highly recommended to complete the online course before attending the field day.

Optional Hands-On Field Day

There are three options for up to 10 people each for a total of 30 spots. Register for the Online option and you will receive an email with a link to claim your spot.

  • Sunday, April 13, 2025 - 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. or - Full. No spots available.
  • Sunday, April 13, 2025 - 3 p.m. - 5 p.m., or - Full. No spots available.
  • Friday, April 18, 2025 - 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. - Full. No spots available.
  • Attendees must be 15 years or older to participate.
  • A signed waiver is required on the day you participate in the field day.
  • Beekeeping suits and gloves are provided.
  • Note: Times are subject to change based on weather conditions.

Cancellations and Refunds

Cancellations received no later than Tuesday, April 1, 2025, will be issued a refund minus a $15.00 administrative fee.

If a cancellation or refund becomes necessary, please submit a Cancellation or Refund Request. Refunds typically take 7 – 10 business days to process.
