This course covers the basics of beekeeping, from what to purchase, where to purchase it, how to set up your apiary, what to expect, and what time commitment you need to be successful. This class is geared toward those with little to no experience with beekeeping.

The bonus of this course is a hands-on field day inside a hive! Put on a bee suit, open a hive, find the queen, and do some beekeeping maintenance and diagnosis.

Training Options

In-Person

Classroom-style learning at our Extension facility in San Antonio, TX.

• Includes a packet with beekeeping catalogs, fact sheets, and helpful literature.

Online

A convenient self-paced online course.

• After registering, you’ll receive an email with a coupon code and a link to access the course. The coupon code ensures there are no additional fees.

Register today for either option and receive an email with a link to claim a spot for the optional hands-on field day.

Field Day Requirements

• Attendees must be 15 years or older to participate.
• A signed waiver is required on the day you participate in the field day.
• Beekeeping suits and gloves are provided.

Cancellations and Refunds

Cancellations received no later than Monday, April 6, 2026, will be issued a refund minus a $15 administrative fee.

If a cancellation or refund becomes necessary, please submit a Cancellation or Refund Request.

Refunds typically take 7 – 10 business days to process.
