The Texas Pecan Short Course is a comprehensive learning immersion aimed at preparing landowners to plan, develop, and implement a commercial pecan orchard business.
Participants do not need to know anything about pecan trees to be a part of this course, but should expect to finish the course with an understanding of:
Basic tree biology and physiology,
Site and resource evaluation,
Seasonal tree care and protection,
The pecan market and budget preparation,
Ariety selection, and
Strategies for pest and disease management.
Portions of the course include hands-on demonstrations of orchard equipment, tree planting, pruning, etc. at the Texas A&M University pecan orchard.
