No. This field day is designed for beginners as well as those with some fire experience.
Participants will be guided by trained and experienced burn personnel throughout the event.
Yes, weather permitting we plan to conduct a live prescribed burn.
If conditions are not safe, we will still cover all topics using demonstrations and in‑field instruction.v
Wear long pants, a long‑sleeve cotton shirt, leather boots, and a cap or hat. Bring drinking water, sunscreen, and any medications you may need.
If you have Nomex and leather gloves, you are encouraged to bring them, but they are not required.
Yes, you will have the chance to participate if you have the proper PPE.
Safety is our top priority.
The burn will only occur if weather and fuel conditions meet strict prescription guidelines, and the event will follow established safety protocols and contingency plans.
Landowners, ranchers, leaseholders, municipal officials, volunteer fire departments and natural resource professionals who want to learn how prescribed fire can be used to manage rangelands, brush, and wildlife habitat are encouraged to attend.
Yes, this burn will count towards your CIPBM fire experience if you have taken the online course and need the fire portion fulfilled.
If conditions are too wet, dry, or windy to burn safely, the live fire will be postponed or cancelled, but we will still hold an educational program with demonstrations, discussion, and Q&A.
No, this field day is free to attend.
Yes, lunch will be included. If you have any dietary restrictions, please feel free to bring your own meal or substitutions.
