Second Steps in Beekeeping

If you have attended the Beekeeping Basics program or already have bees and are ready for some more in depth information, this course will cover those needs! We will discuss the next steps in beekeeping once you have installed your bees.

Topics to include:

  • Winterizing your Bees
  • Pests and Diseases of Bees and their Management
  • Recognizing Signs of Stress and What to Do
  • Texas Apiary Inspection Service
  • Requeening Your Hive
  • Perspectives from a Commercial Beekeeper

An optional field day will also be offered, just down the road in Leon Springs after the classroom portion of the class.  We will do a mite check on a couple hives and potentially requeen a hive.  Bee suits and gloves will be provided if needed.

2pm-4pm: field day
Leon Springs Rudy's BBQ, in the Doc Holiday Banquet Room, located on the backside of the parking lot, closer to The Grill.

If a cancellation becomes necessary, please send notification to agriliferegister@tamu.edu.  Cancellations received no later than September 25, 2018 will receive a $25 refund.
