Welcome to the 2019 Junior Master Gardener National Leader Training! Our mission is to grow good kids through igniting a passion for learning, success, & service through a unique gardening education.  This conference is designed to take you from novice educator to an empowered leader and trainer who can introduce this program into your local community.

Through this training program, participants will:

  • Identify and use Junior Master Gardener curricula and the research behind it to support academic standards, leadership development, healthy living, and nutrition education
  • Participate in hands-on activities/presentations on use of curricula/program, resources to support implementation, training volunteers, marketing to schools, funding and building sustainable garden programs
  • Identify gardening techniques and types of gardens that can be replicated to create outdoor learning environments for youth and practitioners
  • Teachers, volunteers, school nutritionists, Extension staff, SNAP educators, administrators & state and national JMG coordinators of successful JMG and youth garden programs will share best practices, highlights and reports from the field

New this year!!!!!   A capstone of the conference will be a private tour of the newly opened Texas A&M Gardens. This garden features a vineyard, historical themed gardens, vegetable gardens, fruit orchard, bird/butterfly gardens, food/fiber field, earth kind gardens, rain gardens and capture, kitchen gardens, technology apps in the garden, and so much more!  Get ideas from Texas A&M horticulturists on how to create and use these types of gardens in your school and community.

This year the conference will be held at the brand new Texas A&M Hotel and Conference Center.  In the heart of the Texas A&M campus, you will enjoy the beautiful new facility, exquisite rooms, and lovely dining options. We have included as a part of the conference a “Taste of Texas” Wine Tasting featuring some of our best Texas wines and highlights of the Viticulture & Enology program at Texas A&M University.

Come join us for a fun packed 3 days where you will learn from professionals and fellow attendees to cultivate & sustain children’s gardening programs in your community!
