IPM Experience House provides regular classroom and personalized, hands-on training courses for professionals in the pest control industry. On July 30 the IPM House will host a class to help pest management professionals identify ants.
Topics to be covered will include an introduction to ant taxonomy and morphology, how to monitor ants, and general principles of fire ant and other ant control. The class will make extensive use of microscopes to learn to recognize the key aspects of ant structure and develop the ability to identify ants to the genus level with a microscope. Students will collect ants from the field and identify their catch.
Lunch will be provided. Registration is open until the day of the class; however, class size is limited to 15.
Instructors: Merchant, Puckett. (CEUs: 1 CEU Pest, 1 CEU IPM, 6.5 hours verified classroom training)
There will be a mix of indoor and outdoor activities during the day, so come prepared to be outside, in the sun or rain, for part of the afternoon.
