Lawn & Ornamental - Landscape Maintenance Category Training

This 8 hour course can be used to prepare individuals licensing with the Texas Department of Agriculture in the Landscape Maintenance (Ornamental & Turf)  category.  This category includes control of insects, diseases, unwanted plants and other organisms affecting ornamental plants and turf grasses. This exam-prep course will prepare individuals for the General Standards and Landscape Maintenance (Ornamental and Turf) exams. The $170 course fee includes the required category training manual (AES-5066), the General manual (AES-5073), and the Laws and Regulations manual (AES-5056), an $80 value, and instruction from experienced Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service trainer, Dr. Mark A. Matocha.

In Person Training

  • The training manuals will be given to In Person Training registrants at the training.
  • There will be a 1 hour lunch break (lunch not provided).
  • The In Person Training is limited to 15 registrants. If maximum capacity has been met and you wish to be added to a waiting list, please email agriliferegister@tamu.edu with the registrant's name, company name, address (city, state, zip code) and phone number. Should space become available, you will be contacted by email.

Virtual Training

  • Instructions to access the training will be emailed to Virtual Training registrants on or about one week before the training. If you do not receive this email, please contact Karen Coleman (979-845-1099 or karen.coleman@ag.tamu.edu).
  • The training manuals will be mailed to Virtual Training registrants. Please provide a physical address for shipping.
  • There will be a 1 hour lunch break.

The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) has contracted with PSI Services (PSI) to administer exams for agricultural pesticide applicator licensing. This is the same vendor that administers exams for structural pest control licensing. Complete an application for either a Commercial Applicator (PA-401) or a Noncommercial Pesticide Applicator (PA-400N) and submit the license fee to TDA.These forms are available at http://www.TexasAgriculture.gov or by calling TDA at 1-800-835-5832.

Cancellation/Refund Policy

If a cancellation becomes necessary, please send notification to agriliferegister@tamu.edu. Cancellations received no later than February 3, 2021 will be issued a $145 refund. If study materials have already been shipped, a $55 refund will be issued. Transfer of class is available at no additional charge for the first transfer. Additional transfers will cost the full amount of the training registration fee.
